The Asian Culture Society (ACS) is a cultural, student-based organization at RIT.  Their goal is to promote awareness of the Asian culture to the students at RIT.  After a year of being an active member, I became their webmaster. I eventually took the helm as their president by the '04-'05 school year while continuing with my webmaster duties.

Its true what they say about every web designer having his/her own familiar style.  Apparently with me, it comes in the form of simplistic boxes.

In need of a fresh look, I went at it once again with the ACS website.  With no internet, fresh ideas, or any time to spare, I went tried-and-true with another boxy layout.  This time I went with an even more vibrant set of colors, well color.

My biggest problem with the previous layout was the lack of a splash image.  It felt bare.  It felt soul-less.  This, as shown above, was finally remedied.  Above the "Upcoming Events" section, the splash image shows a preview of what to expect.  The image was from the previous year's event.

Though it displays the content and the heart of ACS within satisfaction, this layout clashes with the gallery and forum sections as they look completely different.   I will find time, however, to find a way to unify these sections as a redesign should be underway.
